On Saturday, April 30, 2016, State Theatre New Jersey celebrated another great year for the performing arts in central New Jersey with our annual Benefit Gala. This year’s Gala featured an incredible performance from Martin Short, who kept the audience in stitches with his stories and portrayal of characters he has made famous, such as Ed Grimley and Franck from the Father of the Bride movies. A highlight from the performance was a hilarious Jiminy Glick interview with New Brunswick’s Mayor Jim Cahill, who received lots of applause for holding his own with the legendary comedian.
The State Theatre New Jersey Gala is an annual event—the biggest fundraiser that we hold each season. This year’s event raised an incredible $574,839 to support the Theatre’s acclaimed artistic and educational programs. The Silent Auction featured almost 70 items, including vacations, jewelry, sports and performance tickets, and much more! This year’s Wine Pull featured “Wines from Around the World” and included 180 bottles of wine, ranging in value from $30-$182 per bottle.
At this year’s Gala, we were privileged to show our support of individuals and organizations that have shown dedication and commitment to the performing arts and to The State for many years. Our 2016 awards were given to Aon Hewitt (Corporate honoree), Joan and Robert Campbell (Patron honorees), and Greater Media New Jersey (Leadership in the Arts honoree). We are so grateful for their continued support of State Theatre New Jersey and their devotion to keeping the performing arts thriving.
We send a big thank you to each individual or organization that supported the Gala by attending the event and performance, donating to our Silent Auction and Wine Pull, purchasing 50/50 tickets, etc.
And lastly but most importantly, we send our sincere gratitude and thanks to the entire Gala Committee and Board of Trustees for their incredible support and dedication to making this event a resounding success.
With Our Deepest Thanks,
