Ticket Office Hours

Mon-Fri: 10am-6pm | Sat: 1pm-5pm | Sun: Closed unless there is a performance
On weekends, the State Theatre New Jersey Ticket Office is open at least 3 hours prior to any performance State Theatre New Jersey sells tickets to unless otherwise specified. Please refer to show event pages or upcoming events via our phone system for specific information. Summer hours may vary.

All sales are final. No refunds unless the show is cancelled. Due to the nature of live performance, all artists, programs, policies, dates, times, prices, and discounts are subject to change (or cancellation) without notice. Discounts (and Rewards Club redemptions) cannot be combined and are not retroactive. Promotions, discounts, ticket exchanges, and donation policies do not apply to rental events unless otherwise specified. State Theatre New Jersey accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

ticket exchanges

For a $9 fee, ticket exchanges are permitted for State Theatre New Jersey presented events no later than 72 hours prior to a performance (and during Ticket Office operating hours). The original ticket purchaser must call 732-246-7469 or visit the Ticket Office to exchange tickets.

Exchange options are:

  1. Donate the ticket money to State Theatre New Jersey as a tax-deductible contribution.
  2. Exchange the ticket money directly into another State Theatre New Jersey presented event.
  3. Put the ticket money on the purchaser's State Theatre New Jersey account, to be applied to a future State Theatre New Jersey presented event, for up to one year (365 days) from the date of exchange.

Exchanges are not permitted within 72 hours prior to a performance. Ticket exchanges are only permitted for tickets purchased directly through the State Theatre New Jersey Ticket Office or and must be initiated by the original ticket purchaser. The value of exchanged ticket monies must be redeemed within one year (365 days) of the date of the exchange and expire thereafter. Exchange values can only be applied to tickets for State Theatre New Jersey presented events and cannot be used for any other goods or services. Ticket sales for rental and special events are final sales and exchanges are not permitted. Tickets purchased from Ticketmaster or Groupon cannot be exchanged or upgraded through the State Theatre New Jersey Ticket Office.

ticket fees

There is a $4 facility fee assessed to each individual ticket and a transaction fee is applied to all phone and online orders. The transaction fee is waived for group ticket and walk up orders.

ticket upgrades

Based upon availability, ticket upgrades are permitted up until curtain and patron must pay any difference in the cost of the upgraded ticket price plus a $9 upgrade fee.

refunds & credits

Once an order is placed, there are NO REFUNDS on tickets unless the event is cancelled. Refunds are only made to the original purchaser and are issued for the value of the tickets only. Processing fees are non-refundable, unless the performance is cancelled. In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to notify the purchaser.

Tickets from unauthorized sources

State Theatre New Jersey tickets are a revocable license to attend the event listed on the front of the ticket. Such license may be revoked without refund for noncompliance with terms. If you purchase tickets to an event from an unauthorized source, you do so at your own risk. Tickets obtained from unauthorized sources may be invalid, lost, stolen, or counterfeit and if so are void. State Theatre New Jersey values customers’ privacy and security, and will not access records nor reprint tickets for anyone who cannot be verified as the original ticket buyer. Fraudulent tickets will not be admitted into the theater. Tickets cannot be reprinted without valid photo identification of the original ticket buyer.

rewards tickets

Every time you buy 9 eligible tickets, your 10th ticket is free. We track your purchases and give you every 10th ticket as a Free Rewards Ticket, so no sign-up is required. Read the Rewards FAQ for more information.


Only full-priced tickets for State Theatre New Jersey presented events count towards Free Rewards Tickets earnings. Free Rewards Tickets issued are:

  1. No greater than the lowest priced eligible ticket at the time of purchase;
  2. Not issued for Gold Circle or Loge seating, rental events, and select State Theatre New Jersey presentations; and
  3. Limited per show, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If discounts or promotions are offered, those discounts are not retroactive and cannot be combined (unless otherwise specified). Discounts and promotions have terms which may include expiration dates, limited availability, or additional fees and restrictions. Please read terms carefully before making your purchase.

gift certificates

Gift certificates can be ordered in any increment and are valid for five years from the date of issue. State Theatre New Jersey Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for NJSO tickets or any other tickets that are not sold through the State Theatre New Jersey Ticket Office. seating policies

Late Seating

Traffic and parking around the theater can become congested prior to a performance. We suggest that you allow extra time to arrive relaxed and ready to enjoy your event. Those arriving after a performance has begun will be seated at the discretion of the State Theatre New Jersey staff. All late arriving patrons should expect to be seated after the first intermission for most events.

Child Seating Policy

State Theatre New Jersey reserves the right to remove anyone from the theater who causes a disturbance or disrupts other customers’ experiences. Content is at the artists’ discretion. Customers who are removed from the theater will not receive a refund. All sales are final and there are NO refunds unless the show is cancelled. Please refer to each event page for the ages we strongly recommend as appropriate for each performance. No children under the age of 14 are permitted into the theater without a parent or guardian. Children under the age of 14 must be seated directly adjacent to parent or guardian and will not be seated without a parent or guardian.

Infant Voucher

Free infant lap vouchers are available for children 11 months or younger for certain events geared towards very young children (lap vouchers require that children must be sitting on the lap of a parent or guardian). When available, information regarding free infant lap vouchers will be posted on the webpage for that specific event, or please call the Ticket Office. If your child will have reached his or her first birthday by the date of the performance, he or she must have a paid ticket and must be seated next to a parent or guardian. No individual will be admitted into the audience chamber without either a paid ticket or a free infant lap voucher.

cameras and electronic devices

Professional cameras, video, and audio recording are strictly prohibited inside the theater at all times.The taking of photography (flash and/or no flash) is dependent on the artist, and may be completely prohibited. Please check with our ushers upon your arrival.

inclement weather policy

In the case of inclement weather, refunds will be awarded only if the show is cancelled. If the performers are present at The State, then the performance will take place. If the performance is re-scheduled, then the original tickets issued are valid for the new date. In the event that a show is cancelled, we will make every effort to inform all ticketed customers via phone and email as soon as we can. If you purchased through Ticketmaster, you will be contacted by Ticketmaster and they will be processing your refund: Ticketmaster customers please call 800-745-3000.

Ticket exchanges are permitted for State Theatre New Jersey presented events and for tickets purchased directly through the State Theatre New Jersey only. The original ticket buyer must contact the Ticket Office by phone 732-246-7469 no later than 72 hours prior to the performance, and within our business hours, to request an exchange.

State Theatre New Jersey will not honor unauthorized 3rd party transactions.

vouchers & coupons

Vouchers and coupons are valid for up to one year from the date issued and are only valid for select State Theatre New Jersey events (not all events apply). View a complete listing of events that are voucher and coupon eligible. To receive your tickets you must hand deliver or mail your voucher or coupon to the State Theatre New Jersey Ticket Office (15 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick, NJ 08901) with your performance request(s). When mailing or handing in your voucher, please be sure to include your contact information (address, phone, email, etc.). Vouchers and coupons do not serve as admission and must be redeemed for actual tickets. Tickets are subject to availability and section and location of seats is at the discretion of the Ticket Office (vouchers or coupons cannot be redeemed for seating in the Gold Circle or Loge/Box). Seats are not offered on all sections. Vouchers or coupons will not be honored if altered or reproduced in any way. They are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. Vouchers or coupons cannot be combined with other discounts or offers. No upgrades in seating area are permitted. Vouchers and coupons are not valid for rental events. State Theatre New Jersey complimentary ticket vouchers and coupons have no monetary value. Vouchers will not be extended beyond the date for which they are valid. Tickets redeemed from a voucher are delivered via email or Will Call pick-up only.


To request a ticket donation on behalf of your 501(c)3 organization, you must fill out our online application. Your request will be reviewed and you will receive a follow-up email as to the status of your request. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the request to be processed. Requests received less than one week before the event will not be considered. Please click here to submit your request.

If you have a special accommodation request (e.g. wheelchair seating, medical needs) please let us know by using the comments section of your order or by calling the Ticket Office for instructions before placing your order.


The main floor is accessible to patrons using wheelchairs. The theater does not have an elevator. Infra-red listening devices and large print programs are available upon request from an usher, or visit the lower-lobby coat check.
