Come to our Free Saturday morning Milk & Cookies Series!

There’s no need to find a babysitter to watch the kids when you come see our free Saturday morning Milk & Cookies series. These performances, designed with kids in mind, feature local storytellers, Kindie (Kid +Indie) Music rock stars, and even a one-man-band! With three performances in the fall, and another three in the spring, why not come by State Theatre New Jersey for some Saturday morning entertainment instead of morning cartoons? Performances are at 10am and at noon, and you even get to take a carton of milk and a cookie or two home with you after the show, thanks to our in-kind sponsors.

Last September we featured Lovey Williams, who returned for his second Milk & Cookies performance. Lovey makes enough music to fill a whole room on his own; as well he should, since he’s a one-man-band! Bringing in hand instruments for the audience to play along with made his show a great event for the whole family.

In October we were joined by Joanie Leeds, who you may recognize from Sirius XM radio. She plays a rock band for kids, and her music has been recognized by numerous Parent’s Choice awards. With her sparking purple dress and vibrant music, all the kids in the audience were on their feet jumping with the tunes.

November brought us Julie Pasqual, a regular for Milk & Cookies. She’s a storyteller who’s travelled and performed in 49 of our 50 states, 12 countries in the world, and routinely visits hospitals as part of the Big Apple Circus Clown Care program to help bring joy and fun to hospitalized children and their families. With her comic training as clown, and physicality from her dance training, Julie’s active performance had the whole audience in tears from laughing.

We’re looking forward to our spring line up, which opened up for reservations last month. They are:

January 28th: Suzi Shelton, a Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter who has performed at the White House, Symphony Space, and Lincoln Center.

March 11th: Jack McKeon, a regular teller at the Hans Christian Andersen statue in Central Park, and previously the storyteller in residence at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown.

April 8th: Mr. Ray, our favorite Kindie rock star, who has played with Bruce Springsteen, Meat Loaf, and Bobby Bandiera. He’s even performed at the United Nations!

Make sure to place your reservations online soon, or contact our education department at education@statetheatrenj.org or 732-247-7200, ext. 545.

Milk and Cookies is sponsored by The Provident Bank Foundation.
