Family Day

PRESIDENTS' DAY IS FAMILY DAY — MON, FEBRUARY 20 10AM-3PM

Looking for something to do on Presidents Day? At State Theatre New Jersey’s annual Family Day festival, families can spend the school day holiday enjoying dozens of performances, workshops, and hands on activities—many of them free—plus costumed characters, face painting, balloon animals, games, a photo booth, coloring station, food, and more. The day-long festival spreads across The State and the adjacent venues, bringing downtown New Brunswick alive with nonstop activity.

Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey

AT 10AM, 12:30PM & 3PM
Marvin the mouse is constantly teased and bullied at school by the “cool” mice. Retreating into his science books, he dreams up a world of fantasy where he is the brave hero. He sets off on his homemade rocket for the space adventure of a lifetime—a trip to the moon! While on this cosmic adventure Marvin encounters an assortment of unusual creatures. This wondrous electroluminescent production by Lightwire Theater features over 40 delightful characters and a variety of music from pop to classical.

These fun, hands-on workshops, led by instructors from Princeton Ballet School and coLAB Arts, invite children to explore creative dance and drama.
No advance registration is required, but space is limited. Participants will be admitted to workshops on a first-come, first-served basis. Workshops are for kids only (with the exception of “Hand in Hand,” which requires a participating adult for each child).
