Scientists Exploring The Arts

Scientists Exploring the Arts is a free program that is open to college students (graduate and undergraduate) who are majoring in specific areas of science or technology. Eligible majors include: food science and molecular gastronomy, nutrition, chemistry, chemical engineering, statistics, environmental science, food sensory evaluation, material science, business (finance, sales), marketing, and computer science.

Scientists Exploring the Arts is a unique partnership between the State Theatre and National Starch, LLC. The program celebrates and explores the essential elements shared by the performing arts and science and technology: creativity, innovation, problem solving, teamwork, and process. Each event offers young scientists an opportunity to discover distinctive art forms and to meet personnel from National Starch, LLC, a world leader in the development and manufacture of specialty food and industrial starches. Scientists Exploring the Arts is offered twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring.

Students selected to participate in the program attend the State Theatre, along with employees of National Starch, LLC. Each event includes:

  • •  A ticket to the performance at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.
  • •  A pre-performance “Exploration” with a talented arts educator.
The entertaining and enjoyable lecture provides an in-depth,
        easy-to-understand introduction to the show.
  • •  A pre-performance dinner, where there will be opportunities
to network with National Starch employees as well as other students.
