Scientists Exploring the Arts is a free program that is open to college students (graduate and undergraduate) who are majoring in specific areas of science or technology. Eligible majors include: food science and molecular gastronomy, nutrition, chemistry, chemical engineering, statistics, environmental science, food sensory evaluation, material science, business (finance, sales), marketing, and computer science.
Scientists Exploring the Arts is a unique partnership between the State Theatre and Ingredion. The program celebrates and explores the essential elements shared by the performing arts and science and technology: creativity, innovation, problem solving, teamwork, and process. Each event offers young scientists an opportunity to discover distinctive art forms and to meet personnel from Ingredion, a leading global ingredients solutions provider specializing in nature-based sweeteners, starches and nutrition ingredients. Scientists Exploring the Arts is offered twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring.
Students selected to participate in the program attend the State Theatre, along with employees of Ingredion. Each event includes:
- • A ticket to the performance at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.
- • A pre-performance “Exploration” with one of the performers or artistic
staff from the show. The entertaining and enjoyable lecture offers an
in-depth, behind-the-scenes introduction to the show and the creative process.
- • A pre-performance dinner, with opportunities to network with Ingredion
employees as well as other students.
